Majorca with Kids
Your complete guide to a family holiday in Majorca
Majorca has been a British family favourite for decades, and it is easy to see why. Just a 2.5 hour flight from the UK, this Balearic island offers beautiful beaches, calm waters perfect for paddling, and enough variety to keep everyone happy. Whether you want an all-inclusive resort or a villa adventure, Majorca delivers.
Best Areas for Families
Majorca is surprisingly diverse. The north is mountainous and dramatic, the east has hidden coves, and the south has long sandy beaches. Here is where to base yourself:
- Alcudia - Long sandy beach, shallow water, cycling paths, great for toddlers and young kids
- Puerto Pollensa - Quieter, more upmarket, beautiful promenade, calm bay for swimming
- Cala Millor - Blue flag beach, good facilities, lively but not rowdy
- Santa Ponsa - Family resorts, close to Palma, good for first-timers
- Cala d'Or - Pretty coves, relaxed vibe, excellent for snorkelling
Best for Toddlers
Alcudia beach is exceptionally shallow - you can walk out 50 metres and still be knee-deep. Perfect for nervous paddlers.

- Supermarkets - Mercadona and Eroski have excellent fresh food and beach supplies.
- Water safety - Most beaches have lifeguards in summer, but always supervise children.
Save on Car Hire
Book through a UK comparison site (not at the airport) and decline the excess waiver if your travel insurance covers it.
Best Time to Visit
May, June, September and early October offer the best balance of weather, prices and crowds. July and August are hot (35C+) and busy, but sea temperature is warmest. April can be hit or miss but is great for active families who want to walk and cycle.
